There are many ways you can help a family move away from poverty.
Please consider sponsoring an element of a home for a family.

Paint for a child’s bedroom = $50
Welcoming Front Door = $100
Window for sunshine = $250
A Furnace to warm the hearts and home= $500
Foundation on which to build a future = $1,000
Roof to shelter the whole family = $5,000

3 bedroom home (1,000 sq. ft.) = $85,000

Additional Ways to Donate

Gifts in lieu of presents: Next time you can’t figure out what to get someone for their Birthday, Wedding, Anniversary or other occasion, consider a donation in their name.  We will send out a nice card acknowledging the donation and they don’t have to smile and not mean it when they get the third toaster.

   
 
   


Bequest: Cards and flowers are nice but fade quickly.  Consider a memorial gift that continues on indefinitely.  A donation made to honor an individual will help a family change their future for generations to come.   We will send out a nice card acknowledging the donation to family, or whomever you designate.


Store Donations: The Habitat ReStore is our largest single source of funding.  Donations, be it monetary or material in nature, are just one more way you can support Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity.  Please check the list of acceptable items for donation, or shop at the store and save big on your next project.

Land Donations: To continue to build we need land.  Consider donating a parcel of land.  Maybe you have some land and have been paying insurance, taxes and upkeep, you could turn this into a tax write-off and eliminate out of pocket expenses all while helping a family move away from poverty housing and changing their future for generations to come.


Sponsorships: Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity homes are built with love and volunteer labor, but materials and permits take cash and for that we must have sponsors.  Sponsors can be corporations, individuals, groups, or organizations that donate a minimum of ¼ of the cost or materials to build a home.


Cars for Homes: By donating a car to Habitat’s Cars for Homes™ car donation program, you help build houses in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable shelter. It is quick and easy to donate cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, construction equipment or other vehicles — running or not! Plus, when you donate your car, your vehicle donation may be eligible for tax deduction purposes if you itemize. (Consult the IRS or your tax adviser for details.)

Planned Giving: For more than 30 years, Habitat for Humanity has been building houses in partnership with families in need, helping others help themselves to a brighter future. Providing a way for families to achieve the security of safe, affordable housing is our continuing goal.  Planned gifts are an important part of how we are able to plan for the future.  As you plan for your future and the security of loved ones, Habitat for Humanity has numerous planned giving options that allow you to make a meaningful charitable gift to support the ministry’s home building after your lifetime.
